Congress state president defeated in Rolpa, Maoist rebels win once more

7 November, Rolpa. Independent candidate Dipendra Kumar has been re-elected in State Assembly 1 of Rolpa. He defeated Amarsingh Pun of the ruling coalition, who can also be the state president of the Nepali Congress.

Dipendra, who rebelled after the CPN Maoist Center didn’t give him a ticket, received 14,927 votes. Amarsingh of Congress received 10 thousand 406 votes.

Dipendra, who was involved within the Maoist armed battle from the start, was additionally injured. After Rolpa State Assembly 1 was given to Nepali Congress within the distribution of energy coalition seats, he resigned as a member of the Politburo of the Maoist Center and Rolpa district in-charge and ran as an independent candidate.
