Khotang, 7 November. CPN-UML candidate Panchkarna Rai has been elected from Khotang State Assembly (1).
Having been a member of the Constituent Assembly, he defeated Birvalkaji Rai of CPN (Unified Socialist) by a margin of 1,092 votes.
Panchkarna obtained 13 thousand 157 votes whereas Virbalkaji obtained 11 thousand 965 votes. Panchkarna Rai, who was defeated within the first Constituent Assembly member election of 2064, was elected within the Constituent Assembly member election of 2070.
Dharmaraj Pokharel of Nepali Congress had given independent candidature on this space. Even although the frequent candidate of the ruling coalition was Veerbalkaji Rai of the United Samajwadi Party, Pokharel ran as a insurgent candidate and obtained 3,145 votes.
