Election Officer Balkrishna Niraula knowledgeable that Maharjan, the candidate of the Congress on behalf of the alliance, was elected as a member of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, defeating Chetanath Sanjel of the CPN (UML) by 4,214 votes.
