Hot air balloon consists of a giant bag which contains gas cylinder which helps the balloon to fly, and a wicker basket that carries passengers. It starts to fly when fire is ignited to the bottom of the air balloon.

Myths of Hot Air Ballooning in Nepal
In 1991, Chris Dewhirst and his colleague performed Hot air balloon expedition and flew over Mt. Everest. That was the very first experience of hot air ballooning in Nepal. After that, the sport continued commercially in Kathmandu valley. However due to some circumstances, it discontinued its service.
LAUNCH OF HOT AIR BALLOON IN POKHARA
The launch of Hot air balloon flight happened at most popular tourist destination, Pokhara. Hundreds of locals plus tourists gathered near Fewa lake to witness the colorful hot air balloon. The balloon took off after the crew member ignited fire at the bottom of the balloon using gas cylinders and slowly it flew up in the sky.
How can we get there?
Since, Pokhara is known as the paradise city of Nepal. Every tourist who come to Nepal must visit Pokhara which is worthwhile.
- Get a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara or you can take a ride by bus. The flight timing is around 25 minutes where as the bus ride will take 7-8 hours.
- You can trek or take a ride to reach Dhampus. It is 22 km away from Pokhara City. It is also one of the entry spot to Annapurna Base Camp. Dhampus is the take off and landing place of Hot Air Balloon flight in Pokhara.
