The Court of Barcelona has acquitted the previous motorcycling world champion Alfonso “Sito” Pons of six crimes in opposition to the Public Treasury for which the Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of 24 years in jail for not having complied along with his obligation to pay taxes in Spain between the years 2010 and 2014.
In its sentence, the eighth part of the Hearing considers it confirmed that in these 4 years Pons, 250 cc world champion in 1988 and 1989, spent greater than 200 days touring round bike circuits all over the world and his fiscal residence was in Monaco, between 2010 and 2012, and from 2013 to 2014 within the United Kingdom.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested for Pons, who has been defended by the Molins Criminal Defense legislation agency and the tax lawyer Iñaki Picaza, a sentence of 24 years in jail and a high-quality of greater than 12 million euros for six crimes of tax fraud, an accusation to which each the Spanish and Catalan Tax Agency joined.
